The Sultanate is the third largest country on the Arabian Peninsula, strategically located at the entrance of the Arabian Gulf, the source of two-thirds of the world’s oil exports. This ensures Oman’s easy access to the world’s prime markets such as India, China, Africa, the European Union and the Americas, and the ability to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Furthermore, Oman’s high-quality seaports at Salalah, Duqm, Muscat and Sohar, offer access to 3 continents and more than 2 billion consumers.

As a result of Oman strategic location linking the East and West, and position on the route for trade centers in the GCC, India, China, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, the logistics sector has continuously played a key role in the economy’s diversification.

The Sultanate’s access to markets, trained talent and significant public and private investment in industrial estates, free zones, and infrastructure suggest that Oman could become the dominant entry and exit point for goods destined for the Gulf, Asia and Africa and a transit point for east-west trade. The future remains strong for this sector.

Potential investment in logistics sector includes:

  • Investments in leasing three air freighters
  • Oman as an e-Commerce Logistic Hub
  • Improving the quality of services by Oman ports
  • Feeder connectivity into regional markets
  • Level the playing field for Free Zones
